FAQ

Below are answers to a few common questions. If you have any other questions, please contact the office directly, our administrative staff will be happy to assist.

Do I have to be Catholic to attend a course?

No. While most of those who attend our Pre marriage courses will be married by a Catholic Celebrant in a church wedding, not everyone who attends is a Catholic. Everyone is welcome, however you should be aware that on some issues a 'Catholic' perspective is presented and must be respected. All our Marriage Enrichment courses are suitable for everyone.

What is the minimum and maximum ages of couples attending the Pre marriage courses?

It varies, depending on the course. The minimum legal age for marriage is 18, and a court order is required for anyone younger who wishes to marry. In this case an interview with a pre-marriage counsellor is also required prior to attending a course. There is no upper limit. Care is taken to ensure that a couple is placed in a group with an age range with which they are comfortable.

Can I change my course once I have enrolled?

Yes. On receipt of your enrolment, a letter is sent confirming the course date. If you need to change to a different course date you can, if a place is available, however 3 days notice is required. A refund is available if you need to cancel your enrolment, however a $50 administration fee will be charged.

How many people are usually enrolled for each course?

Enrolments vary greatly according to the course, and a minimum number is necessary. If a course is cancelled due to insufficient enrolments you would be offered an alternative date, or given a full refund.
